Puegnago del Garda

The yearly Festival of Puegnago del Garda is becoming of more and more interest every year. At the Fesival there are Oenological competitions such as "Groppello d'oro" and "Groppello Riserva d'oro" open to farms and wine producers that produce Groppello. There is also the regional competition Alambicco dedicated to grappas and  various olive oil competitions.

As per tradition, the Fesitival is being held on the first weekend of September, from the 2nd to the 5th, in the centre of Puegnago del Garda. During the event, it is possible to taste local products cooked with extra virgin olive oil Monocultivar Casaliva and accompanied with Groppello Doc, typical products of this town.

The Groppello Doc nowadays is only grown in the Valtenesi region. It is a delicate red wine with a pleasant, fruity aroma and velvet taste. It becomes a reserve wine when aged at  least 2 years.

The oilve oil is unique " thanks to Lake Garda as its climate contributes to the production. Lake  Garda Olive Oil is a mix of harmonious aromas (fresh grass, artichoke, herbs and hay) which expand into a delicate almond taste, with a slightly sharp and spicy hint. The olive oil is produced at the highest northern latidude in the world thanks to the lakes' climate. " (Andrea Bertazzi- President of DOP Lake Garda Olive oil)

The news in the last edition of the Puegnago del Garda Festival has been the choice of glass for the Groppello wine. Research has been made as to which type of glass would be the best to bring out the aroma of the wine.

The 35th edition of the Festival will have "the Glass", the pass giving access to the taste of the Groppello wine…

The Puegnago Festival refreshes the local spirit: "a model of integration with land, local products, environment and tourist resources which more people seem to share" (Paolo Turina- president of the Garda Classico Consortium)
