The Castle
Constructed after the migration of the population in the Valtenesi area to San Felice, in 1438 the castle was the residence of the Visconti del Piccinino ,who made raids into the territory of Brescia. After restoration work which took place in 1483, it was destroyed at the beginning of the 16th century by the troops of Luigi XII. When the Venetians regained possession of the area the castle was rebuilt (1521). Today the corner tower, completely constructed in brick, is visible.
Monte di Pietà
In this characteristic town we find buildings with a wealth of art and culture, such as the building which is today the Town Hall, built in 1570. The portico has five characteristic arches in rusticated stone, while the windows have solid grates as a defensive measure.
The parish church
The 16th century parish church of Saints Felice and Adauto is of particular importance. In the Baroque interior one can admire frescoes by Carlo Carloni and Giosuè Scotti and the altar-piece by Romanino. Outside one cannot but be fascinated by the majesty of the bell tower, which is separate from the body of the church as it was built by exploiting the walls of a tower belonging to the Scaligero castle, of which only a few ruins remain. Our eye is caught by the two Roman areas, one of which is dedicated to Neptune, situated at the sides of the left portal.
San Fermo
Closing the northern part of the gulf, San Felice leads us to the charming small church of San Fermo, dating back to the 15th century, which was constructed on the remains of a majestic Roman villa. The church has the characteristic gable roof, while inside it is made up of a nave without aisles, with a 15th century fresco depicting San Fermo. The peninsular of San Fermo offers the opportunity to admire the beautiful Island of Garda.
